Van Dijk is badly injured, this is Jurgen Klopp’s comment

USL – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Virgil van Dijk will return to play tighter when the Dutch defender has undergone knee surgery and faces a struggle to reappear this season.

The Premier League champion said Van Dijk suffered a knee ligament injury as a result of being taken away by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford during the Merseyside derby last weekend at Goodison Park.

Van Dijk’s knee surgery has yet to be scheduled. Klopp did not set a time frame in relation to the return of the central defender.

Klopp still doesn’t accept that his leading player has to face a ferocious foul by the Everton goalkeeper.

“This situation is annoying. You don’t need it, but you have to deal with it and Virgil will handle it, 100 percent.”

“We’re in constant contact. We’re here for her, she knows that and we’ll wait for her like a good wife waiting for her husband to come back from prison.”

Pickford will not be penalized for the offense after the Football Association ruled the incident was seen by match officials, including the VAR.

Klopp said midfielder Naby Keita could play against Ajax Amsterdam in a Champions League draw on Thursday night after continuing to train after a negative COVID-19 result.
