USL – Barcelona want to extend the contracts of Frenkie de Jong and Clement Lenglet after deciding to give a new job to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Goal reported on Monday (October 19, 2020), the Spanish league giants have long talked with their goalkeeper of the German national team to extend the contract. An agreement has been reached with Ter Stegen and Barcelona will soon announce the good news.
Ter Stegen’s contract expires in 2022, but Barca will make him one of the highest paid players at Camp Nou.
Now it’s Lenglet and Frenkie de Jong’s turn that officials will appreciate by agreement.
Koeman: Happy Messi, I have no doubt about that
Lenglet, the French defender, is an important part of Barcelona’s long-term plans and are still in the process of reaching an agreement since signing in 2018.
His consistent performances and positive attitude made him a popular person with teammates and coaching staff. Lenglet is still under contract at Camp Nou until the summer of 2023.
According to Goal, the Catalan giant is also in talks with Frenkie de Jong. The contract of the Dutch national team player is another four years, but Barcelona wants to bind him even longer.
It is believed that De Jong has not performed optimally in Spanish football since joining Dutch club Ajax. However, given De Jong’s just 23 years, Barcelona believe the young player offers a lot of potential in the foreseeable future.
Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman is very confident that he will be able to bring out the best of De Jong’s abilities, which he coached in the Dutch national team.
Koeman is not sure that Barcelona deserves to be called a candidate for the Champions League
Convinced of the Ajax Academy players ’ability to give up, Koeman is eager to include De Jong’s name from his long-term plans in Barcelona. (Among)
